Christmas Sketch Applique

These applique designs are meant to look as if they have been free motion embroidered, the outlines will be wiggly and not necessarily on the edge, this is their charm as they have been hand drawn

Use black thread, no need to change colours – the colour changes in the design are only there to make the machine stop between sections to allow you to lay on the fabric and to trim.

The applique pieces are raw edged, they are meant to fray slightly which gives it a more ‘hand crafted’ look. It is a good idea to back your applique fabrics with Bondaweb or similar, when the applique is finished you can give it a light press and the Bondaweb will secure the applique and base fabrics together and help keep the fraying to a minimum
